Due to the severe shortage of N95 medical face masks, The New York Sewing Center will be teaching how to make 3 kinds of CDC-compliant face masks that can be donated to our first responders and medical professionals. *Pre-washed fabrics (to avoid shrinkage after masks are made) *Tightly woven 100% cotton fabric Medium weight, or one piece of cotton and one piece of flannel - 2 pieces, 6x9 inches each (see image)
*1/4 wide elastic (see images) - 2 pieces, 7 inches each
Coffee filter, and 1/2 yard of 100% cotton, non-stretch fabric, pipe cleaners
*Sewing machine, pins, scissors
No Supplies? We are preparing kits that can be shipped (email email@example.com to coordinate) or you can purchase your own supplies online at amazon or blackbird fabrics.
Experience: intermediate for sewing
Length of class: 1 hour. Each mask takes about 15 min to complete
After masks are complete: No need to wash, hospitals will do this upon arrival. Please email us with hospitals in need. As of now we know for sure these are taking mask donations.
Do not drop off: Please email or call to find out distribution.
