Here at The New York Sewing Center, our love of crafting and sewing began at a very young age, which is why we love to inspire the next generation of fashion designers with our Kids’ Sew class!
This course is a great summer camp (5 day) program for young students to express their creativity & grow their love of sewing through fun seasonal projects that they will be proud to say they made!
We start at a beginner level so everyone can follow along and even replicate their projects at home for family and friends.
During this course you will learn:
· how to properly thread and use a sewing machine
· basic sewing techniques and terminology and how to use a pattern
· hand and machine stitching & seam finishes, appliqué and trim application
Ages 7-10: fashion sketching & mood boards, embroidery, pencil case, scrunchies and elastic waist skirt. Parent or an adult must be present for sewing portion.
Ages 11-14: fashion sketching & mood boards, embroidery, tote bag, drawstring backpack and summer skirt or pillow and matching face mask. All supplies included and shipped upon enrollment. Parent or adult must be present for sewing portion on day 1.
COST: $375 Per student
FABRIC AND SUPPLIES: All supplies for projects will be included and shipped upon enrollment. In addition: Students will need to have a sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins, ruler, colored pencils, mechanical pencil and magazines that can be cut and used for mood boards.
COURSE DURATION: 5 days; classes will be broken up into 3 sections. 10-11am sewing, 11am-12pm fashion sketching and mood boards, 12-1pm lunch break while viewing a runway show during lunch (link provided). 1-2pm hand embroidery class. Options available to sign up for the entire camp or individual sections. Classes will be recorded in case you miss a class or need to rewatch a project so you can finish on your own. You can request the recording each day after classes if you need to watch again.
